ADOPT AND RAISE A CHILD (arc) by donating towards the initiative. Following quite a number of sexuality problems that have over time affected the communities and the nation as at large, we are out to mentor the young adolescents from the age of 10-19 years, both boys and girls.
After the unfortunate incidence of girls getting pregnant at an early age in large numbers, it is time we wake up and face the reality of what's on ground. We can hide behind the fact that we are giving pads so that they don't sell their bodies for it but the truth that we have to face as the society is that this kids need sex and reproductive health education.
This adolescents are sexually active but nobody is giving them that sex talk. Nobody is spelling out the consequences to them. They are basically exploring the curiosity of their young minds and with closure of schools and less to do, they are paying more attention to the sexual feelings of their bodies and attending to them.
Many have underwent unsafe abortions but that will not be talked about, many have had to get married at an early age but we are turning a blind eye to that, many are being molested by both strangers and relatives like fathers, uncles, grand fathers, but we remain silent about it.
As SISC we have taken the initiative to address this issue. The ARC initiative is simply to empower the young minds with knowledge to be able to exercise their rights as well as make informed and sound decisions. Teach them skills that enable them to be creative in the society as well as be able to take up their gender roles in the community responsibly.
We will educate on sex and reproductive health as well as menstrual health. While we are on that, we will also be giving out the reusable pads and pants to the girls, boxers and vests to the boys.
